FAQs

  • We recommend flying into Liberia (Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport). It is about an hour and half away from Tamarindo by car.

We only suggest flying into San Jose Airport (SJO) if you will be traveling around other areas of Costa Rica (and this is more convenient for your complete itinerary). Otherwise, this airport is about a 4 hour drive from Tamarindo and is far less convenient.

  • If you are just coming for our wedding weekend: We suggest taking a cab from the airport to Tamarindo (via the cab vendor near baggage claim / exit) — the ride is 1 hour 30 min and each car costs around $100-150USD total. (For example, if your party has 4 people, the cost per person would be ~$25 - $37.5 per person.)

If you are staying at a hotel in Tamarindo, it is likely that they provide a shuttle (not complimentary) that can be arranged upon booking.

If you are planning to explore Costa Rica beyond our weekend: We think renting a car is a great idea. However, we recommend renting from a specific vendor (who is known for being haggle-free) called VAMOS Rent-a-Car.

While other international vendors are an option, please be wary that many may have a lot of hidden insurance fees.

(If traveling from USA) No matter who you rent from, we suggest that you print your credit card’s car insurance proof / explanation of benefits waiver to stop ‘extra insurance’ haggling at the rental desk.

  • During our ceremony, we sadly will not be able to host any children outside of immediate family. While we are bummed about this, we don’t want that to prevent you and your family from enjoying Costa Rica.

We’re working on organizing childcare services for the day of our ceremony.

If you’re interested and want more details please fill out the form at the bottom of this page (or shoot us an outside message)!

  • We expect to have shuttles from both Tamarindo Diria and Wyndham to Pangas on the day of the wedding.

We will provide a time schedule when we’re closer to the day of the wedding.

  • Please check out our helpful map on our accommodation page!

We recommend staying in either Tamarindo Diria or an AirBnB close to the beach. While the Wyndham has incredible views and facilities, it’s a bit of hike to downtown Tamarindo (they have a free shuttle that goes to and from the hotel).

If you decide to stay in an AirBnb that's not as central, we recommend renting a golf cart here.

  • Most places in Costa Rica take Visa, Mastercard and Amex so it’s unnecessary to take out cash for this trip.

That said, there are beach vendors that sell local snacks, knick knacks and massages on the beach that only accept cash. If any of this interests you, we recommend getting some colones out. For reference $1 is usually ~500 colones.

If you are gonna take out cash, we advise using an ATM since those usually have the best exchange rates.

  • We hope most of our guests take the opportunity to explore the beauty of Costa Rica. There’s so many places to visit that we’re just going to include some in this list, but know that if it isn’t this list is not because we don’t recommend it.And it goes without saying that if you have any questions, just shoot us a message or ask the new Costa Rican friends you’ll meet at the wedding.

    * Las Catalinas, Guanacaste (1 hr by car from Tamarindo): A a picturesque little town that resembles coastal Italian town. A bit expensive but beautiful scenery and a lot of shops and restaurants.

    * Nosara, Guanacaste (3 hrs by car from Tamarindo): Beautiful beach south of Tamarindo. It’s a small little town that has been developed a lot the last few years. Great for hanging at the beach and surfing.

    * Monteverde, Puntarenas (4hrs by car from Tamarindo): A beautiful mountain rainforest with longest zip-line in Costa Rica. Tons of hikes (including nocturnal ones to see some awesome animals), hanging bridge tours, delicious food and even better coffee.

    * Volcán Arenal (4 hrs by car from Tamarindo): One of many volcanoes in Costa Rica where you can visit: hot springs, waterfalls, rivers, fishing and many more activities.

    * Manuel Antonio, Puntarenas (6 hrs by car from Tamarindo): A National Park full of rich wildlife (be careful of the monkeys on the beach) that also has beautiful beaches and amazing restaurants all over town.

    * Parque Nacional Corcovado, Puntarenas (8 hrs by car from Tamarindo, although we recommend flying since it’s hard to get to by car): This national park contains ~3% of the world’s biodiversity. It’s very remote so don’t expect your typical tourist experience but it’s an incredibly beautiful and unique experience. We recommend doing research on how to get there and where to visit since it’s a very protected area.

    * Playa Cocles, Limon (8hrs by car from Tamarindo): This is on the east side of Costa Rica. So you’re going from beaches on the Pacific coast to the Atlantic/Caribbean coast. This is one of many beaches that are close by that are incredibly beautiful. In this area, it rains quite bit during this time of the year but there’s always some sun so don’t let that deter you.

  • We’ve made a small list of restaurants we like to go to! Aside from that you could take a boat tour on the estuary, do an ATV tour, or take a car to Playa Grande.

This is a kid-free wedding. But we don’t want that to stop you from bringing your family.

Please let us know if you are interested in childcare services the day / evening of our ceremony and we’ll let you know how to arrange care.
